Well, I’ll try to explain it the best I can:D

Even when I was younger I’ve been shipping without even knowing what the proper term was and they were always hetero [Princess Diaries. X-Men. etc.]

But now I see things in a new light. There’s subtext everywhere, whether or not it was meant to be there. It depends on the audience; and as Quentin Tarantino said:

You don’t really have to be some movie expert to be able to play the subtext game. You know, you can watch any movie and it doesn’t matter what the director was thinking or what the people making the movie were thinking. If you can make a case for it, you can lay in a subtext into a film, make it a lot more—a much more enjoyable way to watch the film. Like gay subtext, for instance, always makes every movie better!”

Truthfully, it’s much more interesting. Especially that even in this modern world, where yes, it is acknowledged that homosexuality exists but it’s mostly viewed as something inappropriate and something that needs to be eradicated or hidden. There’s a certain twist to it that, if it did truly happen on-screen, it would feel as if the homophobes were slapped on the face; and that makes me feel…well…smug, I suppose.

There’s a certain excitement.

Some girls (especially way back then, I hear,) dreamt of having affairs with a young hot priest or fantasized about rough, charming pirates, etc.

But I, on the other hand-THIS. THIS IS MINE. [and others’ of course, but…]

Imagine if instead of the predictable Ginny Weasley, Harry Potter ended up with Draco Malfoy.

Now, wouldn’t that be a shock?

But no, not really. At least not to me; the only reason why I’d be shocked is that J.K. Rowling actually took the risk of having her book repulsed by millions. And I would have been proud.

It would have made sense in a way.

All the build up, the tension, the passion in their attempts to bring each other down. The reason why Draco Malfoy is so negative towards Harry Potter in the first place is because Harry didn’t take his hand. Instead, the Potter boy chose Weasley

If they did end up together, wouldn’t that have been an exceptional story plot to inspire house unity and get some Slytherins over to the light?

Didn’t the Sorting hat sing or rhyme or foreshadow something about there wouldn’t be victory without house unity? I’m too lazy to look it up for now.

Well enough about that part. It’s all here if you’re curious:

ThorLoki is my favorite ship. Favorite is an understatement. Seriously.

If a good ThorLoki graphic[or anything that even remotely reminds me of them] merely catches my eye, feelings just overload and I just stop breathing for about two seconds and then proceed to hyperventilate and sob and the tears threaten to surface. And oh gods, the songs! Every song that comes on [EHERM* ‘ALMOST LOVER’, ‘SOMEONE LIKE YOU’ BY ADELE, ETC.ETC.ETC.] seems to be appropriate for them and I just—can’t. They just give me feelings. Heart and gut wrenching feelings. This is very much the process of my feels and my face:

[Especially that second one. GPO/F/Y.]

But of course, horrendously uglier.

It’s just a mix of everything I prefer.

I ship Thor/Loki because…of their situation, their history, their feelings, their characters. Two-sides of the same coin. They are different, they contrast but they complete each other. In some way they wouldn’t have been alive if it weren’t for each other [Loki’s wits and sorcery, Thor’s physical strength and his strong confident personality. Unique qualities to their characters that save each other’s lives and yet keeps them apart.] It’s messed up. It’s wrong but it’s right. It’s complicated but it’s logical, it makes sense. It’s feral. It’s everlasting. It’s beautiful. It’s breathtaking. It hurts.

When they were younger, it is heavily implied [from the comics, movie and the superb acting, especially by Tom Hiddleston] that Loki never got along well with others, was looked down upon and continually subtly harassed, etc. I doubt he’d have ever told anyone, even Thor. Because of his pride and because he knew, he knew what his ‘brother’ would do and as much as he would like to see Thor go mad for his sake, he loved him too much; He kept it from him, to keep Thor’s reputation as the well-intentioned, victorious first-born, Golden Son of Asgard, untarnished.

Loki is known for being highly intelligent and wise. I’d like to think he’d always suspected he was never an Odinson. [I mean come on, Queen Mother, All-Father and Golden Brother has blonde hair and maybe even blue eyes. A concentrated, silent, skilled sorcerer, among the land of violent, rumbustious, warriors.]

[And come on, what the hell do you think was Odin doing picking up a child from the enemy’s territory? Whether or not he knew then Loki was a Royal’s son, he still found out later. If Loki appeared to be in a female human/Aesir form, it would have been too obvious. Also in reality, Frost Giants didn’t really have one gender only.]

They’ve had centuries-hell, maybe even millenia(s), the two of them. To immortals that’s totally normal but to us mere mortals, we cannot help but imagine how they’ve spent it.

Thor might jest about Loki’s “argr/ergi quality but he means no true harm. He’s not stupid as everyone might think he is- he knows people talk about Loki that way, in a serious, demeaning manner, even his friends. I bet you he’s looked at all of the Warrior’s Three [even Sif] in the eye one by one for them to stop, many times enough that they know not to talk about it at all.

Sometimes he barks at Loki about ‘knowing his place’ when he’s stressed or angry but he knows he wouldn’t even be alive if it wasn’t for Loki.

To live like Loki, doubting your own identity, suspecting your real one (could I really be a Jotun? But aren’t they monsters?), living in a place where everyone tended to look at you as someone never good enough, and then there’s Thor- someone who may or not be your brother, someone you know deep inside to truly care and you hate it because it’s all his fault in the first place! Being so stupid and naive but still being the one who everyone wanted.

THIS. THIS. THIS. OH GODS.

Loki is the God of Mischief, Sorcery and Lies. But the reason why he’s so convincing is because he mixes truth with lies.

Sometimes I am jealous but never doubt that I love you.”

[Deleted scene. Why deleted? Maybe because people might be suspicious?]

“Now, give us a kiss.” He says it in a teasing tone.

[Deleted scene, again.]

“I’m not your brother! I never was!”

“I never wanted the throne! All I ever wanted was to be your equal!”

[I assume you’ve seen the movie]

Do you remember that part, near the end when they were in the Bi-Frost and Loki wanted Thor to fight him, to instigate it?

“Come on, what happened to you on Earth that has turned you so soft?”

Don’t tell me it was that woman!”

[There’s so much to be loved about this scene. (URGH TOM, YOUR ACTING. HNG.) But, to me, most especially the way he says and stresses “Don’t”]

If it was some other villain it would sound taunting. Loki would have been, he tried, like before, like always, he attempted to appear not to care, but this was his breaking point; he delivered it full of anger, he looked absolutely mental and with tears brimming in his eyes.

[Did I mention, Thor looked guilty?]

Loki was jealous. Thor, the ruthless warrior in battle he has known for centuries/millenia(s), wouldn’t fight him! Why? Who could have done it? Who could have changed him so quickly when He, the one who has been by his side for centuries/millenia(s) has tried to.

“Oh… it was! Well maybe, when we’re finished, I’ll pay her a visit myself!”

[Fuck. Just fuck. Look at his face. There’s desperation there. There’s that look of ‘nothing matters anymore, if anyone kills me it’s you. It’s always been you. The most bittersweet downfall’. There’s that harsh bite to his tone.]

He said this to spur him on. He wanted to fight Thor, he hated him, he loved him and it drove him absolutely mad. It’s always easier to fight someone when you can justify that they ‘started it first’.

I’d like to think that no matter what Loki does in the future [the Avengers, Thor 2], no matter how much Thor comes to ‘hate’ Loki, nothing will change the fact that they’ve spent centuries/millenia(s) together, side by side, saving each other’s lives and risking it. No matter how much Thor comes to hate Loki, it will never balance out how much Thor loved him.

Romeo and Juliet is considered a tragedy. To me, they were just teenagers who met at a party, thought each other hot and wanted to bang;misunderstanding here, wrong information there, they died. The end. Many would argue.

Romeo was in the party in the first place because he thought he was ‘in love’ with a girl named Rosalie or something.

But Thor and Loki, there’s that genuine tragedy to them and it hurts, it hurts so bad that it hurts so good. I’m no masochist anon, but this is the basis of us, greed, pain, anger, jealousy. Another tragedy is Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr. They could have been together but the world and their ideals got in the way. They could have grown old together with their adopted mutant babies students. But no. They don’t. And throughout the years, even though they cross paths and see each other from across the battlefield, they never seriously attempt to kill each other. They may maim or injure to stop each other but they take extra care not to.

Such a fate is what I would expect in the Avengers. I’d expect Thor to question Loki, and ask him to stop and Loki would say no. Because Loki’s had enough

On the topic of incest, well. I’m not really grossed out by it. As long as both parties know what they’re doing, the consequences, if it’s consensual [at least in reality] and most of all if they love each other. Biological parent-children incest is kind of my limit though. I can try to understand why people are repulsed by it but it was completely normal a century before now and milenia before that. (1800s and before) [In Ancient Greece and Rome also, love between warriors was considered a superior type of love.]

[Thor being a warrior has probably seen such occurrences in his unit, albeit not on purpose and being the awkward naive bloke that I like to think he is when it comes to such things (especially in his younger days), it probably startled him a bit but he got over it and shrugged it off.]

The only reason I can think of why incest is bad is the whole gene thing. We’re advanced now. We can find a way to alter the abnormalities of chromosomes when the time comes. Most of the Royal families all over the world interbred and has been doing so for centuries (1800s and before).

Gods [Greek/Roman(I don’t know about Norse)] continuously had incestuous affairs.

THORLOKI=ROYALSANDGODS

And here, from the comics, implies that Thor is totally ‘cool’ with it.:

This has really been a long one, I’m not even sure if you or anyone would want to read it. I’m really sorry but I just wanted you, or anyone really, those who are curious as to why I do.

If you ask guys why they like girl on girl they would say “cause it’s hot.”

I ship male on male cause yeah, it’s hot, but not only. There’s so much more to it- that complexity. Usually there’s passion, lots of it. Whether it’s bad or good, it’s still passion. Same with obsession. It also depends on the chemistry of the actors. Especially when the actors themselves appear to ship it.

I’m sorry if it’s too long anon ._.; I know it took like an hour or two for me to respond but-but-I just couldn’t help it. I hope you’re still awake. Tell me if you read it because I’ll probably keep reblogging it until you see it or something [once a day?Twice?]. And spam my poor followers.

Of course, these are simply my thoughts and evaluations.
